Integrated Financial Management System (IFMIS) Project

IFMIS: IFMIS (Integrated Financials Management Information System) has been promoted as a core component of public financials reform to promote greater comprehensiveness and transparency of information across Government Institutions. The success factors for such a system to be implemented include clear commitment to financial reform objectives, ICT readiness, and a phased approach to implementation, project management capability, well trained personnel and a sound change management system.

As a part of the Scope of Engagement between DATAM EDU and Government of Kenya (GoK) IFMIS Reengineering training to be conducted within 48 ministries 6000 IFMIS end-users spanning over a period of 3 years. This training is based on learning and training sessions to increase knowledge, skills, competencies and capabilities that will guarantee long-term sustainability of reforms. The Government of Kenya (GoK) has invested substantial financial and technical resource in the operationalization of an IFMIS Academy.

IFMIS e-Learning application: DATAM EDU also adapts an e-Learning approach for delivering the training.
  • e-Learning comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching
  • Essentially the objective is to provide the trainee, out-of-classroom and in-classroom educational experiences via technology
  • It facilitates the enhancement of student participation and managing the virtual classroom in a more effective manner
  • The approach adapts a computer and network based transfer of knowledge and skills
  • It can be self-paced or instructor-led and includes media in the form of text, image, animation, streaming video and audio

  • Instill confidence so that users are able to interact better with the system

  • To communicate the benefits of IFMIS at a macro and micro level
  • To focus on individual’s expectation aligning and integrating them with IFMIS mission
  • Engaging with the more senior staff and convert them to change agents, committed to the change, even as they commit to offer full support for a seamless implementation
  • Transition in the senior staff so that they may engage with their teams and cascade positive messages about IFMIS
  • Identify the slow learners and bring them up to speed
